Photography is a complex blend of science and art, allowing only the most skillful practitioners to artistically capture moments in time to be enjoyed over and over again. With his extensive knowledge of the photographic process, his technical skill as a craftsman, and his creative sensitivity, Robert DeFosses creates one of a kind portraits and a variety of photographic art.

DeFosses first became recognized as a creative photographer when he was a student at Central Connecticut States College where two of his earliest black and white prints still hang in the Richards L. Judd Permanent Art Collection.

From then on DeFosses has gone on to win numerous professional photographic awards on the local, regional, and national levels, including the prestigious Kodak Award for Excellence in Portraiture. He has also been inducted into Alpha Beta Kappa for his contribution to photographic education.

With a career now spanning more than thirty years, DeFosses has created photographs using a variety of photographic materials and techniques such as black and white photography, hand painting photographs and natural color photography. He now works exclusively with digital photography, including his own print enhancement and Gicleé print making of color and black and white prints.
